Perfect Glasses for Different Face Types

People’s faces come in many shapes and sizes, which is why there are countless styles of frames. We want you to feel confident in your choice of new frames, so we put together a list of the perfect glasses that will match the shape of your face. There are four basic types of face shapes; square, heart, round, and oval.

Square

Square faces have well-defined angles. The sides of your face are straight and your face is nearly as wide as it is long. This type of face shape is typically the same size length from all sides, hence the square. This shape looks good with round and oval shapes. If you have a squared shape face you should look for round frames, wide frames, and semi-rimless glasses. Round frames help with angular features. With wide frames, choose a frame wider than your cheekbones. Meanwhile semi-rimless frames will really help balance your jaw line.

Heart

Heart-shaped faces have high cheekbones and a well-defined narrow chin. With heart-shaped faces, the widest part of your face is your forehead and you also have a narrow jaw line. For heart-shaped faces, you should look for bottom heavy frames, wide frames, and frames that have thin temples. Bottom heavy frames help balance out a narrow chin. Wide frames correspond with a wide forehead. Using frames that have thin temples you can create a beautiful symmetry with your heart-shaped face.

Round

Round faces tend to have youthful features because round faces look similar to a child’s face when their faces seem slightly bigger than their bodies. Round faces have softer angles, a curved face, a rounded chin, and sometimes even full cheekbones. For round faces you’ll want to look for frames that are angular, small and square, and/or frames with a contrasting bridge. Angular frames sharpen soft features and help to balance the round shape of your face. Small and square frames create a longer face shape. Frames that have a contrasting bridge like a color or material, help widen your eyes.

Oval

The last shape, the oval face is the best shape a person can have for frames. It’s unique in the sense that the oval-shaped face can really wear any type of frame, which makes choosing fun (but also difficult, when there are countless options). Since you can wear any type of style, you can really play around with colors, materials, and frame shapes. For oval faces look for bold looks that are playful, fun, and vibrant but make sure they match your style. Wide frames, small-square frames, angular frames, and many more can be yours to choose from.
